D. Dayalbhai & Company was founded in 1957 by the late Shri Pranlal D. Vora, who traveled from Mumbai to Kolkata with a vision to build a trusted name in India’s tea trade. What began as a single-person operation at the Kolkata tea auction has grown, over six decades and three generations of family leadership, into one of India’s most respected tea auction commission agencies.

Today, the company operates across three major auction centers, Kolkata, Siliguri, and Guwahati, serving clients with the same commitment to quality, integrity, and personal service that Shri Pranlal D. Vora instilled from the very beginning.

First Generation

Late Shri Pranlal D. Vora: Founder

Late Shri Pranlal D. Vora laid the foundation of D. Dayalbhai & Company in Kolkata in 1957. A pioneer in the truest sense, he built the business from the ground up in one of India’s most competitive commodity markets, earning clients’ trust through deep expertise, honest dealing, and an unwavering commitment to quality.

His legacy is not just a company; it is a culture of service that has been passed on to his sons and grandsons and continues to define how D. Dayalbhai & Company operates.

Second Generation

Shri Harish P. Vora | Shri Pankaj P. Vora | Late Shri Samir P. Vora: Sons of the Founder

The second generation of the Vora family carried the company forward with the same passion their father brought to Kolkata in 1957. Under their stewardship, the business expanded significantly, the Guwahati office was established in 1982, followed by the Siliguri office in 1993, extending the company’s reach across all three of India’s major tea auction centers.

Shri Harish P. Vora and Shri Pankaj P. Vora have together brought decades of hands-on auction experience, deep client relationships, and expert knowledge of Indian tea varieties to the business. Their combined contribution transformed a Kolkata-based agency into a pan-India operation.

We also fondly remember the late Shri Samir P. Vora, whose presence and contribution to the family business remain a cherished part of our story.

Third Generation

Shri Amar H. Vora | Shri Ashish P. Vora: Grandsons of the Founder

The third generation of the Vora family now carries the baton forward into a new era of the Indian tea trade. Shri Amar Vora, son of Shri Harish P. Vora, and Shri Ashish Vora, son of Shri Pankaj P. Vora, have grown up immersed in the world of tea auctions, quality assessment, and client service.

Bridging the traditions of their grandfather’s era with the demands of today’s market, including the shift from manual to online auctions, they represent both continuity and evolution. Their commitment to the values that built this company ensures that every client, old or new, receives the same standard of trust and expertise that D. Dayalbhai & Company has been known for since 1957.
